Unlock your mathematical potential
Welcome to Mathematics, where I, an Elementary Math Teacher empower students and their families to conquer the world of numbers. Discover how understanding math can open doors to opportunities and achievements. Join our community and let's succeed together.
Our mathematical journey
As an elementary teacher, I offer a range of specialized resources designed to meet many individual needs. My approach focuses on making the early mathematical concepts understandable, providing effective and practical solutions for every student, even those who may struggle. On this website you will find many things that may be helpful for yourself or your student.
My Mathematics Learning Experiences
- While learning math as a young child, I remember learning how one day these skills would be needed in the real world, something that I have needed are fractions and how they can be used in many situations as an adult.
-Learning math can be difficult, but it always is beneficial to be able to retain the information and understand what is being taught.
My Glows and Grows
My Glows are:
- Student Engagement - great instruction strategies to help encourage participation.
- Classroom Management - Normal routines everyday that stay consistent to help students stay on task
- Clear Instruction - Offering clear instruction to students to keep them from questioning their tasks
My Grows are:
- Time Management - Helping students use their time wisely is something that I myself also need to work on
- Feedback - When providing feedback to students, I hope to become more prompt with this
Mathematics Instruction
Current research says many things about mathematics education. There are many “key shifts”, and these include but are not limited to: equitable, high-quality instruction, prioritizing student discourse, and fostering a sense of belonging to improve skills. Equity in mathematics affects students’ mathematical mindset by helping normalize struggle and success. Mathematical mindset can be used to engage students and promote academic growth by allowing them to understand what they are struggling with so they can get that help and better understand why they need the help. Being able to understand where you struggle in certain situations like math, help the student, and parents to understand what can be done to help them succeed. While we are doing this, we can focus on some of the harder topics and allow students to have extra work to help them at home also (A Focus on Equity in Math Instruction, n.d.).
My Mathematics Teaching Philosophy
"I believe mathematics offers some of the greatest potential for overall intellectual development"(Teaching Philosophy – Scott A. Norris, n.d.). I envision teaching mathematics to my future students by making the lessons fun and interesting. If I could choose a certain math to teach, I think it would have to be addition and subtraction. These are the easiest skills to learn, but students can also struggle with them. I would love to help students become very independent and understand how addition and subtraction work so that they are able to know the basic math skills successfully. When trying to cultivate a mathematical mindset in myself and my future students, I hope that we are all able to enjoy and have fun learning new math skills and building on them every day to be successful mathematicians. While being able to help students learn and understand math, I hope to instill a love for math in them like I have always had. Math can be hard to love due to how it builds on the small lower building blocks like addition and subtraction, to eventually level up to algebra and even higher math’s, although this is not something that a lot of students have to worry with because once they become successful in the first steps of math, it makes the harder and more difficult times in math easier because it is like building a house or a set of steps, if we want to continue further in our math careers we have to be able to start off slow and build on those first few steps to make it to the very top.

"Why do children dread mathematics? Because of the wrong approach. Because it is looked at as a subject."
